01 — The Difference

Most “gold accounts”
don’t actually contain gold.

There is a category-defining difference between owning a bar of gold and owning a claim on a pool of gold someone else holds. The first is property. The second is a creditor entry. Here is how Ariyor compares.

03 — Frequently Asked

Questions worth asking.

If you’re evaluating any gold custodian, these are the right questions to put to them — not just to us.

What’s the minimum to open an account?
No fixed minimum. Most of our private clients begin with somewhere between €10,000 and €50,000 in physical metal, though we work with portfolios of any size and account services are tiered accordingly.
Is my gold really in my name?
Yes. Allocated custody means each bar is assigned to you by serial number and recorded against your account. It is never commingled with the holdings of other clients, never lent, and never used as collateral by us. Legally, it is your property, not ours.
What happens if Ariyor fails?
Because your bars are allocated and segregated, they are legally your property — not part of our balance sheet. In the event of insolvency, they would be returned to you directly, not distributed to our creditors. This is the central legal protection of allocated custody.
Can I physically collect my gold?
Yes, with 24 hours’ notice for security scheduling. Our Luxembourg office on Rue Glesener has a private handover room and reserved parking. Many clients choose to leave the metal vaulted and take cash settlement instead — the choice is always yours, on each transaction.
Why Luxembourg specifically?
Luxembourg combines zero VAT on investment-grade gold (per the EU VAT Directive), AAA sovereign credit, a century-old banking and custody tradition, and proximity to every major European financial centre. It is one of the four classical jurisdictions for fine-metals custody worldwide, alongside Switzerland, London, and Singapore.
How is my gold insured?
The full contents of the vault are insured by Lloyd’s of London against theft, loss, and damage. This insurance is in addition to the physical security of the vault itself, which is rated UL-2 Class M and continuously monitored.
